Yet again, I don't have anything much to blog about. Heh. Enjoy the video and joke :)

A Spanish teacher was explaining to her class that in Spanish, unlike English, nouns are designated as either masculine or feminine.

”House” for instance, is feminine: ”la casa.” ”Pencil,” however, is masculine: “el lapiz.” A student asked, “What gender is ‘computer’?’ ‘

Instead of giving the answer, the teacher split the class into two groups, male and female, and asked them to decide for themselves whether ”computer” should be a masculine or a feminine noun.

Each group was asked to give four reasons for its recommendation.

The men’s group decided that ”computer” should definitely be of the feminine gender (”la computer”), because:

  • No one but their creator understands their internal logic;
  • The native language they use to communicate with other computers is incomprehensible to everyone else;
  • Even the smallest mistakes are stored in long term memory for possible later retrieval;
  • As soon as you make a commitment to one, you find yourself spending half your paycheck on accessories for it.

(No chuckling… this gets better!)

The women’s group, however, concluded that computers should be masculine (”el computer”), because:

  • In order to do anything with them, you have to turn them on;
  • They have a lot of data but still can’t think for themselves;
  • They are supposed to help you solve problems, but half the time they ARE the problem; and
  • As soon as you commit to one, you realize that if you had waited a little longer, you could have gotten a better model.
POP LOR!

Yeah, this entry is one week late. Finally, BMT is over. And with it, the 1 week long break that accompanies it is coming to an end. With just 4 hrs or so before I book in, the urge to go get an MC or something along that line comes back greater then ever. BUT .. lame ideas aside, here's some laugther therapy [ courtesy of sgforums.com ] for myself [ and for any other poor soul in need of some TLC. ]

--------

A cowboy rides into town and stops at a saloon for a drink.
Unfortunately, the locals have a habit of picking on strangers, which he was. When he finishes his drink, he finds his horse has been stolen.
He goes back into the bar, flips his gun into the air, catches it above his head and fires a shot into the ceiling.
"Which one of you yahoos stole my horse?" he yells forcefully.
No one answers.
"All right!! I'm going to have another beer, and if my horse ain't back outside by the time I finish, I'm going to have to do what I did back in Texas...and I
don't LIKE having to do what I did in Texas!"
The locals now get a bit nervous..
The cowboy has another beer, and then walks outside to find that his horse has been returned. He saddles up and starts to ride out of town. As he does, the bartender wanders out of the bar and asks, "Say, partner, before you go.......tell us, what exactly did you do back in Texas?''
The cowboy turned back and says sheepishly, "Oh, I had to walk home."

--------

Three Texan cowboys get drunk and end up n jail. They then find out that they are to be executed for their crimes--but none of them can remember what they have done.

The first one strapped in the electric chair and is asked if he has any last words. He says, "I am from the Baylor School of Divinity and I believe in the almighty power of God to intervene on behalf of the innocent."
The guards throw the switch nothing happens. They figure that God must not want this guy to die, and they let him go.

The second one is strapped in and gives his last words: "I'm from the University of Texas School of Law and I believe that justice will always intervene on the part of the innocent."
The switch is thrown and again nothing happens. The guards figure that the law is on this guy's side and also let him go.

The last one is strapped in and says, "Well, I'm an electrical engineer--and I'll tell you right now you'll never electrocute anyone if you don't connect those two wires first!!"

Two guys leave a bar after a long night of drinking, jump in the car and start it up. After a few minutes, an old man appears by the passenger window and taps lightly on it. The passenger screams, "Look! There's an old ghost's face there!"

The driver speeds up, but the old man's face stays in the window. The passenger rolls his window down and, scared out of his wits, says "What do you want?"
the old man replies, "Have you got any cigarette to spare?"

The passenger hands the man a cigarette and yells, "Step on it," to the driver, rolling up the window in terror.
A few minutes later they calm down and start laughing again. The driver says, "I don't know what happened, but don't worry, the speedometer says we're doing 80 now."

All of a sudden there is light tapping on the window and the old man reappears.
"There he is again," the passenger yells.
He rolls down the window and shakily says, "Yes?"
"Do you have a light?" the old man asks.
The passenger throw a lighter out the window and says to his friend, "Step on it!"

They are now driving at 100 kilometres an hour, trying to forget what they had just seen, when again the tapping occurs.

"Oh my god! He's back!" The passenger rolls down the window and screams in stark terror,"What now?"
The old man gently replies, "You want some help getting out of the mud?"

A woman gets on a bus with her baby. The bus driver says: "That's the ugliest baby that I've ever seen. Ugh!"

The woman goes to the rear of the bus and sits down, fuming. She says to a man next to her: "The driver just insulted me!"

The man says: " You go right up there and tell him off - go ahead, I'll hold your monkey for you."

--------

A guy is in a bar in a skyscraper high above the city, slamming tequilas.
He then suddenly jumps out of the window. The guy sitting next to him is shocked.
He is more surprise when, ten minutes later, the first guy walks back into the bar unscathed.
The astonished man ask,"How did you do that?"
The jumper responds in a slur, "Well, i don't know! when i jump, the tequila makes me slow down before i hit the ground, Watch."

He takes a shot, slams it down and jump out. The other man now watches as he falls until right before the ground, slows down
and lands softly on his feet.
The other guy now decides to try it too.
He drinks a shot, jump out of the window.......and goes splatt!!!!
The first guy now orders another shot, and the bartender says to him, "You're a real jerk when you're drunk, Superman."

--------

A panda walks into a bar, sits down and orders a sandwich. He eats, pull out a gun and shoots the waiter dead. As the panda stands up to go, the bartender shouts, "Hey! Where are you going? You just shot my waiter and you didn't pay for the food."

The panda yells back, "Hey, man, I'm a panda. Look it up!"
The bartender opens his dictionary to 'panda' : "A tree climbing mammal of Asian origin, characterised by distinct black and white colouring. Eats shoots and leaves."

A BUSINESSMAN was opening a new outlet and one of his friends sent him flowers. The bouquet duly arrived. But the buinessman was furious when he saw the card.
It read: "Rest in Peace." Angrily, he called the florist to complain.
The florist apologised profusely and said: "Sir, I'm really sorry. But rather than getting angry, just imagine this: Somewhere, there is a funeral taking place and they have flowers with a note that says "Congratulations on your new location."

--------

Okay. The jokes aside now .. hmm. There's really nothing much going on for me, I guess. Other the normal book-out routine of friends/movies/arcade stage 4/bio zhar bor and more,
nothing much there.

Oh well ..
With minutes to go before I book into camp for yet another time, I shall skip the formalities here and go straight to the point.

Wonderful, huh?

Anyway, it seems like the dark cloud above me has brightened that little bit more. With just 2 weeks to go, one can say that I'm near the end of my BMT [ with just my 16 and 24km route march + field camp to go before my POP :) ] And yes, it seems like my sergeant has a favorable opinion of me - I'll be staying back in the unit as an infantryman. Ditto if it sounds good or bad though, guess I'll just play it by the ear and see how everything turns out.

Other then that, I guess I'm doing okay now.

Oh well. Time to go. Take care all.

I really need to change that blog picture and music .. =P

In the meantime, a simple one before I book in and force myself into the pace of that is the Singapore Armed Forces ..

It's Singapore's birthday today. So before we go any further, happy birthday yeah? [ and hopefully, there's still many more birthdays like this to come .. lols ]

Yep, like many others who didn't really get the chance to watch it live, the TV in my house has been switched on and tuned to the NDP. And yes, there's something about me hearing and watching that for the past 20 years of my life that makes it such a turn - off [ for me, at least. ]
But .. just as there is the "bad", there is also good - The holiday is a welcome reprieve against the stress I'm facing now, lol.

Heh. In any case, I pass out of BMT in 5 [ or was it 6? ] weeks' time. For now, I'm still able to cope with the shits there. BUT .. I forsee a lot of burnt weekends, no thanks to my inability to grab at least a pass for my IPPT [ Remedial Training till like no tomorrow, lols ] and the Army Open House in September.

Hai .. ~ the more I think of it, the lower my morale goes. So before I really think of opening that window and really start believing that I can fly .. Have a nice evening all.

Okay, first things first. Initial D Arcade Stage 4 has finally made it's way to singapore [ actually, it's been a month plus already so this strikes me as being a bit too late .. hehe ] Don't really know what to say about it .. the game looks great in terms of graphics and all but [ at least, for me ] leaves much to be desired when you look at the gameplay - it's really at times, a bit too exaggerating with all the sliding and all, lols. Not that this is Battle Gear 4, of course .. but .. at least, a little bit more of realism would have help lots. Oh well .. nothing can be done about it, I guess. Just like the many other things in life: You suck it up and move on.

And speaking that .. I believe I have a lot of suck - it - up - and - move - on to do tomorrow, the day/week/month after. It's the start of my BMT. As such, I have all those things called doubts, questions swirling all over my head, waiting to be answered. Not that I'm going to let this pull me down, of course. BUT .. the thing that worries me is not those. Rather, It's the fact that I don't seem to have even a single answer to any give one of those .. things.

Heh. Screwed, am I not?

Out.

Song - Chris Cornell: You Know My Name

After like 2 months of extreme silence, I'm back. As per normal, I'm rather lazy to blog. Yeah yeah, sue me XDDD

And so, to start off my blog post, I shall focus on the main point of my life: National Service.
Okay la, she's been rather "welfare" to me - my superiors has been firm but fair, the pace and training there is still bearable and apart from a few hiccups here and there, I'm kinda settled with things there. But somehow, there's still this unease within me. It's like, there's someone nagging away at the back of my head, telling me to be on my guard. Ditto about that. I guess time will tell yeah?

BUT .. for now, I have another concern. Take this bloody persistent cough [ about 1 week and counting -.- ] and somewhat "sore" throat I'm having now. And since my bunk is a real dusty place [ even after all those area cleanings -.- ] + I'm shouting like every second of my miserable life there, No surprises there huh?

Oh well. I'll cut it short today. Not sure what to write about also, lol. And I haven't packed my bags for camp yet, so yeah. Good day all. :)
I'M BACK.

Date: 22/05/2007
Time: 12:53 a.m.
Mood: Close to the land of zzz
Weather: Kinda hot.
Song: Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence.

Interesting song. Classical piano piece, you might call it.I'm not sure who it's from but .. it's from some Japanese I think =P

A lot of people has asked me why I haven't been blogging for like the past month or so. Well .. LAZY. [ coupled with the fact that blogger suddenly came up with some "technical" difficulties made it a bit hard for me to blog. XDDD ]

Anyway, unbearable weather nowadays. Someone should really invent a dial for the sun or something. In fact, just about anything [ other then air - con, because, seriously, screw the energy savings, there's still that CFC problem left unchecked. ] that can help turn down the heat is enough for me. LOLS. And it doesn't help that a lot of people have the "I wouldn't be around when global warning melts the ice cap and swashes the earth in a killer wave, so why should I care?" mentality. With people like this, I wonder if those environmentalists are right - as in, killing off the Earth's population so that she can regenerate by herself? [ For the non - believers, really, there are such theories floating around the net, no joke. ] Heh.

Okay .. so, by now, everyone should know that I bombed my exams rather badly. A GPA of 2.8 isn't going to get me into Poly. Oh well .. I guess I could try after I get out of the army but then again .. gotta be realistic. So it's on to private studies I guess .. the rates are through the roof and counting .. BUT .. this is what you get for enjoying too much of the "It's To Enjoy!" part eh? ZZZ .. what to do? I suppose I could whine/bitch/scream/shout/regret/whatever my current state of affairs but it isn't going to help. It was by my own actions that I brought it upon myself and yes, I need to rectify things, put them into the correct perspectives and all.

Which brings me to my next point.

I NEED MOTIVATION. Or rather, I'm very scared of myself. It's rather easy to lose focus from here on out. It's like, you're working on a very fine tightrope where one mistake could mean a long drop to the safety net and there isn't a "try again?" option available. Oh well .. slow and steady I guess. They say that whatever doesn't kill you only makes you stronger so I guess I'll take heart and work hard from now on out huh?

And so, with this chapter of my life closed [ at least, for now ], one could say that a new chapter of my life is about to begin. One that stamps a ominous sign with the words "National Service". Yep, it's around the corner [ 3 weeks or so .. ] and yes, I need to get into shape. Especially when my vocation is INFANTRY, 2 SIR. Their motto is second to none, so I believe I have a pretty high bar to live up to. Hehehe ..

Oh well. Birthday coming soon. 2 weeks more till I touch 20. Time really flies .. the memories of it all.. that mixed rice stall in school that gave you 3 pieces of chicken and charged you 2.50 for it .. teachers like Mr Singh, Mr Edzra, Mr Foo, Mr Tan .. friends .. ARGH. There's too many to count! lols.

In any case, much as I would like to continue writing aimlessly on, I feel that I should go to sleep at about now. And with that, take care all ..

Tension. Stress. Whatever. Suffering from all of that now .. results are literally a few minutes away. Hai ~ really hope all those hard work, the sacrifices and whatnots, they were all worth it. Seriously speaking, I really have no mood for NS .. or simply put, I'm still in the mood to play/slack/enjoy .. not be serious and block bullets for Singapore. Oh well, like what Meng and Johnny said .. no use worrying so much. Got enough Wrinkles already, lol.

anyway, an Update on the past few days bah .. to take my mind off results.

Thursday:

Like I mentioned earlier, Class peeps organized a chalet at Downtown East Costa Sands Resort. Well, we must really murder Ken bah, lol. Block L, room 2132 and 2133. [ fyi, block L is the really back, back, back until cannot back - end of the whole resort, lol. ] Alright, didn't really went much into photography, so yeah, pardon me. I only got one picture out of the entire trip - Here it is:

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Kinda sums up the whole mood and all ya .. lol.

Anyway, nothing much spectacular also. The usual: card games, XBOX, talk cock sing song, BBQ. In no specific order. And well, we really noobified ourselves though: $100++ worth of food, in the end, i think everyone had roughly 3 chicken wings and a few hotdogs + crabsticks each? So ya ... kinda pathetic hor, given the budget of the food and all? Lol. Like what Nyit Shen said, it would have been better if we did Pizza Hut instead, hahaha.. in any case, sleep was also another problem though. With so many guys and only 4 beds, I'll leave it to everyone's imagination as to how cramped our sleeping experience was. Actually was going to photograph everyone sleeping [ alot of funny poses and sounds there .. =P ], budden .. Johnny mentioned that photographing someone at sleep is a sign of becoming a pevert O.o" so ya .. i skipped that, lol.

BUT .. all in all, great show lads. Everyone's going their separate ways now, but no doubt, everyone's so Ai Zai, so no problems should we want to meet up in the near future, lol.

Saturday:

Met up with Ah Gong and the rest of the gang at Bugis. Didn't do much, just slacked/walked around the place. Nearly died of heart attack though; they tried to sabo me through the old - fashioned way. the "ah, miss ah, my friend would like to have your number .."

LOL. Okay la, I did, in a way, bring it upon myself. After all, I was the one who suggested to go bio char bor also. Hahahaha .. yaya, I know .. but then again, I'm single =P so better bio as much as I can and while I still can also .. LOL!

Dinner was at the street opposite Bugis Junction. Normally, one would, upon thinking about Tan Quee Lan Street, smack their lips in anticipation of the many steamboat restaurants there. BUT .. being on the budget side and all [ We're not that rich, lol ], I took them to this little hawker joint with a air - conditioned unit. And, since I was feeling a bit rich, decided to blanja Kaiqi's Dinner as well. Strange thing is though: went in with $40, came out with $19 -.-""""""" Up to now, I also donno the reason for the shortfall in cash -.-""" Oh well. I'll leave it as one of the many mysteries in life, lol.

Went back Bugis after that. ID and all. Getting rusty, lol. Doesn't really matter that much, I wasn't really that pro in the first place either. Anyway, saw my old FREE mates: Fong, Li Rong and Zhi Qian. It's been quite a while, lol. A bit of chit chat, a bit of play, and before anyone knew it, the clock strucked 10.30. Left after that to enjoy a bit of supper and another tok - cock session at LJS :) Took a bus home after that.. would have taken a taxi, but .. oh well. budget - ed I guess ^^

Sunday:

Went to that temple [ kinda forgot the name, lol ] at Bugis to pray. I kinda surprised myself though. Or rather, having been a bit of a free - thinker [ but then again, there must be an explanation to the theories of god and all .. ] Or maybe it was just a last - ditch attempt to gather divine help to ensure a good GPA, LOL. Anyway, as like so many times I passed by the temple, it's still people mountain, people sea. Hahahaha ~ Asked for blessings and all, donated, and left. Since it was already quite a squeeze, I figured that I should do humanity a favor and help in any way possible to ease the flow of traffic there, lol. Went back to the arcade, few rounds of ID, and home sweet home.

And now .. I think I should just ZZZZZ. No point worrying so much .. now, having blogged all the good parts of my life out, the gloom sets in ..

oh well.

Night all.
